Natural Disaster Specialized Dogs

Sofia Terife

Natural Disaster Dogs
The problem that I am discussing is the natural disasters destruction. This problem is caused by nature, but humans do help in making them more constant and stronger. A natural disaster happens because of a disruption of the environment. Human activity, takes part in the frequency and the intensity of each disaster. More people have been displaced by disasters than from war. The people who is at risk is everyone in the planet, because every continent and country can suffer a disaster in anytime, and everything in it might get destroyed. In this problem we could say that everything, even tiny things are at risk.
I chose this problem, because I think that there should be a way to help people who suffer natural disasters all year long. In the country we live in, we have few natural disasters; but, in countries such as Indonesia, people suffer a lot of disasters per year. The destruction provoked by a disaster is massive and many people become homeless after some disasters. There are houses, such as the ones in the US that are made out of wood, and they are not as strong as a house that is made out of brick. Making a house that is strong and can’t fall apart because of a natural disaster may be hard to build, because the proper materials are not cheap, and it takes a lot of time, and people can’t afford loosing time of their jobs, because they are rebuilding their houses.
The world wouldn’t look the same, because as the name of it tells us, it is a Natural Disaster, it happens by nature. We can help the people who have problems such as, problems with water and electricity after a shock and also people’s home after a natural disaster. It is possible that people have problems after a disaster, because of its shock. Or also they might be left homeless, and while they are constructing their house they can be helped.
My invention is a giant dog; the breed may vary depending on the kind of problem a certain family needs help with. These dogs are capable of lifting buildings and houses. They are able to track people under rocks from long distances away. This ability comes from their accurate hearing and sense of smell. These dogs are trained to be careful and to treat people respectfully. In addition, they don’t bite or bark if it is not necessary.
These dogs are bred by a scientist. They are kept in big dog academies, where they are trained to track, search, and lift things without worsening the situation. Each dog has its own spot where it sleeps and eats. The persons who call to report the emergency must give details about the specific problems. Then the person in charge of the kennels presses a button and the dog will immediately know where it has to go, and what its task is. This service is completely free, you don’t need to pay, and we actually have an annual fund raiser outside town, where the dogs model for the people to see them.
The dogs operate with on a combination of instinctual and taught commands. The dogs, as said before, are trained in special dog academies, and know how to do certain things. When the dog is released it already knows where to go, because there is a connection between the phone line and the dogs’ kennels. The good thing is that they know what to do, and they don’t need people there telling them to search.
These dogs will help with the problem of natural disasters, because they help people get out of where they are trapped, and can help them pick up the fallen rocks of their houses. These dogs work together, always, because if a certain person asks for help and their need is multiple, a dog alone can’t do it, so we send another one. These dogs help with the water and electricity collapse after the shocks, they use water energy, they get water from a nearby river, and use a special machine provided by the company.
